There is no doubt this is a very nice win, not just for me but for the entire team. Earlier today, Pascal Ackermann dominated the sprint at the Giro d’Italia and now we doubled up with another strong effort here at the Amgen Tour of California. I’d like to thank everybody for their dedication, the team did a great job. They controlled the race and brought me to a perfect position for the sprint. I was focused, stayed in the front in the final stretch and timed my attack well. It’s a nice feeling to start with a win in one of my favorite races.
Niet pochýb o tom, že je to veľmi pekné víťazstvo, a to nielen pre mňa, ale pre celý tím. Dnes, Pascal Ackermann dominoval v špurte na Gire a teraz sme to zdvojnásobili vďaka veľkému úsiliu tu v Kalifornii. Chcem poďakovať všetkým za ich oddanosť, tím odviedol skvelú prácu, kontroloval preteky a priviedol ma do perfektnej špurtérskej pozície. Bol som sústredený, zostal som v špici až do finále a dobre som načasoval môj útok. Je to skvelý pocit začať s výhrou v jednom z mojich obľúbených pretekov.
