Windy first stage at the Giro d’Italia

It was a pretty fast time trial and the wind was much stronger than what we had in the recon this morning. It was a little bit different from what I expected. I gave my best until the first KOM, about a kilometer, and then I rode to the finish. It was OK for me but I think it will be quite dangerous for the GC guys. Everything depends on the wind. You’re going pretty fast downhill, 60-65km/h, and in the town, you have unexpected, strong gusts from the side that make it hard to stay on your bike. My top speed was 101km/h, so I had to be very focused.

Z kopca idete dosť rýchlo, v priemere 60 – 65 km/h a v meste bolo cítiť neočakávané silné nárazy zboku, ktoré komplikujú jazdu. Moja maximálna rýchlosť bola 101 km/h, takže som musel byť veľmi sústredený.
